Thermal Spray Coatings - Coating Process
The process is straightforward with very few steps – the parts are cleaned, after which heated metal powder is sprayed onto the surface at extremely high speed.
We have specialised in the spraying process known as HVOF (High Velocity Oxy Fuel).
The unique feature of the HVOF process is that combustion of the process gases results in an extremely high flame speed of up to 1500 m/sec.
A flame temperature of 2800 degrees “softens” the powder particles and the high speed makes it possible to achieve a very dense coating that exhibits optimum adhesion to the component almost regardless of the underlying material.
The unique flame speed means that the component temperature can be maintained at less than 100°C.
This is one of the major advantages of the HVOF process, as structural changes to the surface of the underlying material are avoided.
